OLYMPIC TICKETS UP FOR GRABS!

As a Welsh Athletics affiliated club we have been able to purchase one pair of tickets to the 2012 Olympics.

To apply for this pair of tickets
1. Check you meet the eligibility criteria (governed by Welsh Athletics).
2. Please complete and return the slip below before January 10th 2012.
3. A draw will be made at the awards night (you do not have to be in attendance).

Eligibility
1. You must be a paid up member of NWRRC.
2. You must be affiliated as an individual to Welsh Athletics.
3. You must be available to attend the event.
4. You must find your own accommodation, travel etc and meet these costs yourselves.
5. If you are the winner of the tickets, you must pay for the tickets by February 28th 2012. Cheques payable to NWRRC (£100).

Other Conditions
1. The tickets are non-transferable.
2. If you cannot attend, the tickets must be re-allocated within the club and still meet the original criteria.
3. We will draw the top 5 from the hat at the awards night. This will form the reserve list for the tickets.
4. If you cannot attend you must inform Paula Roberts immediately who can contact the next person on the reserve list and make the necessary changes with Welsh Athletics.

PROPOSED NEW LOGO

Further to the 2010 AGM and subsequent committee meetings it has been agreed that we have a new logo for the club. This logo will feature on the front and back of the club vest (which will still have the same red and green stripe), on headed paper and on future club kit such as hoodies, jackets etc.

A logo has been agreed, however we would like some final comments by the members. The final decision will be taken by the committee after the closing date. This logo has been posted to all members.

NWRRC members wishing to enter cross-country races are advised to run for Colwyn Bay AC. You will need to become a member of this club as well. BUT, NWRRC has agreed to cover the cost of you using the Colwyn Bay AC mini bus to the races.

We hope to receive one place at this event again next year. The member to receive this place will be drawn from a hat at the Handicap event. Members will be eligible if they have been a member of the club for more than 12 months, have a marathon rejection slip and have not ran the race before. Members must be present at the Handicap to be placed in the hat.

A.G.M. of the North Wales Road Runners Club 2011

We would be delighted if members could attend the A.G.M. of the North Wales Road Runners Club. Once again we will be holding the meeting on a Tuesday night. To enable members to train and attend the meeting, the club training run will start at 6.15pm for this night only.

Felin Heli 10k Race and Llyn Alwen 11k Trail Race have been held in the last week, with members from North Wales Road Runners competing in both events. Chris Yorke was first club member to finish at Felin Heli in 38.19, with Martin Green close behind in 38.54. The next group was Mike Thelwell 43.25, Andy Jones 43.37, Ian Taylor 44.10, Sean Gavin 44.34, Karl Morris 44.48 and Tony Gibson 46.17. Other times were Len Jackson 51.33, Alan Davies 53.36, Erika Dawson 53.46, John Hatton 55.37, Tracey Yorke 57.02 and Cliff Wilkinson 1.10.15
On Sunday at Llyn Alwen, which is a tough undulating course, Martin Green was first club member home in 44.43. Second was new member Mark Davies, running very well to finish in 46.09, with Andy Jones third in 48.59. Mike Thelwell was next in 50.28, followed by Sean Gavin, finishing well despite a fall, in 52.34 and Kevin Higgins in 54.20. Tony Gibson took a wrong turn at one point but quickly recovered and finished in 55.16, with Kay Hatton not far behind in 56.50. John Hatton was next in 64.03 with Alan Davies in 64.11 and Erika Dawson in 64.22.

Membership currently stands at 83 plus 6 social members. Eight members have not renewed their fee this year and they have been sent a reminder letters. If payment is not received by July it will be assumed they do not wish to stay members. 16 members have paid the old membership fees and they will become social members unless they wish to pay the full fee.

Your chance to be a participant in a Bangor University research study!
Target your brain to enhance your exercise performance!

Sports Science researchers at Bangor University are looking for participants to take part in a novel study geared towards the improvements of endurance performance by specifically targeting the brain rather that the muscles. Two lots of the cash prizes listed below will be awarded for the best 3 exercise times! Participants will also receive £20 to cover travel costs. The study will involve 4 visits to Bangor University and a VO2 max test! 1st = £250; 2nd = £125 and 3rd = £75. All runners are to then meet at the R.A.O.B. club for sausage and chips!

Ideally we would like you to register your interest before the event, so that we can order food and make arrangements with the RAOB Club. However, don’t let this put you off; you can just come along on the night.
